Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Oct 08, 2009 10:14 am Had a guy come out and quote on some new cafe blinds to go over a new deck thats is being constructed. The verandah area off the back of the house is supported by steel posts that are about 2 inches across. He said that i need to change the posts for wooden posts or it will look crap. Anyone had any experience with this here is a picture of the area getting a new deck that shows the posts if it helps http://picasaweb.google.com/ptrave/Renovation?feat=directlink#5381200716468024066 Re: Cafe Blinds and steel posts 2Oct 17, 2009 7:42 pm The only thing I can say is that if you think the steel posts look fine then that's all that matters. If he said it will fall down if you don't replace the posts... well that's a different story. But "might look crap" is not a valid reason to have to change them if you don't want to!!! You could always do something like this rather than replacing the posts! http://www.allplastics.com.au/totalpane ... /index.htm My tac-home-ter: Been in 8 months! Re: Cafe Blinds and steel posts 5Nov 12, 2009 10:32 am just an update, i got the builder to replace the 3 metal polls with 4 wooden polls evenly spaced he also placed them a bit further out towards the edge of the roof structure the whole area looks fantastic now, he charged me $200 extra to do this. I now have a semi covered deck that is 8 meters by 5 meters its huge but will become a major living area when its all finished with blinds and seating. Heres the new view from my remodeled dining area,kitchen/outdoor area, this used to be were the kitchen window was the dog is very happy with the extension as he can now look directly into the house. Still a bit of work to go to clean things up. the birth of the twins a little early has slowed things down a bit : ) http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/0N ... directlink Hi I am wanting some opinions about the build of a steel shed I am going to get one about 4.5 x 2.5 m steel shed and the height will be about 2.3-2.4m high The one I am… 0 14435 You’re on the right track, wire brush in a grinder then a zinc rich epoxy primer then a top coat of some sort, like a waterproofing membrane. Raising the concrete would… 1 7020 That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 17775 |
