Hi guys,
I'm currently designing a 6m x 3.6m back deck with an architect about to draw the plans up. I'm not sure where to put the stairs though - it's a raised deck, ranging from a full storey to probably just over half a storey high across the 6m of the deck. Directly below the back door is the door for the garage, ie the garage is underneath the house. I've got 3 options:
1 - Stairs on the highest side of the deck, next to the back door. These stairs will be closest to the carport and garage door, though may make it hard to get into the garage door through the side of the deck.
2 - Stairs on the lowest side of the deck. Means less stairs which might mean less money? Is on the opposite side of the house to the carport, etc, and furtherest from the clothesline.
3 - Stairs down the front of the deck, across the length of the deck. These stairs could go either with the slope or against it. Against it would mean less steps probably. I could get them done from either corner or towards the middle, as you probably wouldn't need 6m of steps to get down from 1 storey up!
Just wanting some advice because I have no idea which is best and if I'm missing something important here in my considerations. I was originally thinking of option 1, as it would be easier to keep all doorways/steps etc on the one side of the deck but it might get a bit congested there...
Anyways, any ideas, advice or criticisms would be appreciated. I've tried to upload a little pic I drew but it says the board quota has been reached and won't let me Hope my description made sense! Thanks in advance!
