Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Oct 04, 2009 11:40 am Hi all! This is my first post here. Just had a fibre glass pool installed recently and a few issues i've had with it. First of all, All our pipes are just basically running to the filtration system on the ground itself. No trenches were dug and none are buried. Secondly the concrete slopes into the pool rather than away. Hence the pavers sloping in as depicted in the photo. And thirdly the bullnose copers do not have a silicon bead on the inside of the pool. What my concern is. When it rains is this going to hugely affect the water as it runs off the pavers into the pool? Or no difference? as rain will get into the pool anyway. Should i have a bead of silicon under the bullnose coper? And must the pipes be underground to the filtration system? Thanks to anyone who can help me figure this out. Our concreter said that the water needs to run away from the house and away from the pool so it's been done this way and we have a couple of drains to take the water away. All our pipes have been buried in a trench. So we are pretty much the opposite to you Happy at Home Re: Pool issues, Pipes and Copers/Pavers 3Oct 05, 2009 7:38 pm pipes on the ground are fine as long as they are below conc. rock base level and are covered with sand and then rock. i have installed copers without silicone joint and have yet to have an issue (still need expansion joints) but i install a min 400mm deep conc. beam around pool (after quarter minus has settled) and grind gel coat of pool then apply optima adhesive. have do it this way for years and have yet to have a coper 'pop' etc Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Re: Pool issues, Pipes and Copers/Pavers 4Oct 05, 2009 8:00 pm I would be bringing up those issues with the pool company, I think they are unacceptable especially how the pavers are sloping down so much. Re: Pool issues, Pipes and Copers/Pavers 6Oct 23, 2009 5:51 pm I'm not sure if this is just a state regulation or not but here in WA, we were told that the pavers must slope away from the pool to meet health regulations. Apparently the water can push nasty stuff from the ground into your pool and cause all sorts of health risks. Re: Pool issues, Pipes and Copers/Pavers 7Oct 25, 2009 12:57 pm Hey all. Ive had the builder come out. he agrees that its an appalling job. Its going to get all ripped up and redone properly this week. Pitty he is was not here when it was laid by his workers.
