Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Aug 25, 2009 2:33 pm Ok, it's time I contributed photos to this community to those interested in installing Cafe Blinds... The cafe blinds went in last Friday courtesy of Scott and his team from http://www.blindscentral.com.au/ This area used to be our alfresco, which it still could be if we put the blinds up, but they will be down 99% of the time for the room to function as a sun room and gym area. The original alfresco area for those who don't know: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The newly sealed area with gym equipment: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ From another angle: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The plants area, with and without flash during that last rain and wind storm we had: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ A different angle during the morning after the rainstorm: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The Blinds at the half open and full open state, which is why we got Ziptrak in the first place. Very easy to set the height of the blinds just like indoor ones. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ All in all, it was a big job (11 Blinds, 4 new posts, all ziptrack plus hood boxes) that was very well done in the time promised. Scott was very professional and cleaned up real well. I would recommend anyone not in a rush to get some blinds to go to Scott, just be prepared to wait for the great service because he's very popular... Re: My newly converted sunroom WARNING PICTURE HEAVY 2Aug 26, 2009 11:33 pm They look great. I love how they hide away when they are rolled up Re: My newly converted sunroom WARNING PICTURE HEAVY 3Aug 27, 2009 9:37 am buildingadreamhome They look great. I love how they hide away when they are rolled up Yeah we wanted something that could try to keep as much of the out doors alfresco feel when we needed it. We could have put glass in (and probably be about as expensive) but it took away the ability to really open up. It has certainly shown the value during these windy days! Re: My newly converted sunroom WARNING PICTURE HEAVY 4Sep 03, 2009 1:33 pm Wow!! That looks fantastic! Well done to Scott on such a great job viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Yep I have been waiting a week to get a quote back when I emailed all the details and photos to him... I am taking my business elsewhere, when someone can't be bothering coming out to give me a quote, and asks if I can email dimensions and photos, which I do, I expect a reply faster than a week. There are many other companies out there selling the exact same products who actually respond to emails and come and give an in-person quote. I suggest you call him to remind him, he probably gets a lot of email that gets lost among the others. He's out pretty much all day, the time he was on our job he worked until well after dark both days to get the job done on time. Re: My newly converted sunroom WARNING PICTURE HEAVY 9Oct 11, 2009 2:46 pm yeah I'd love to know what you paid for your blinds too. I'm looking at cheap ones from dealsdirect.com.au I'm worried they won't work... but I think yours look very $$$ pricey A thankful person is a happy person. I am getting another quote this week just so I can make a comparison but I have been very happy with Scotts service so far Re: My newly converted sunroom WARNING PICTURE HEAVY 11Oct 11, 2009 6:32 pm They look really great We had them at our last house and I will be getting more when we have finished our outdoor area. Re: My newly converted sunroom WARNING PICTURE HEAVY 12Oct 12, 2009 12:03 pm Annietom yeah I'd love to know what you paid for your blinds too. I'm looking at cheap ones from dealsdirect.com.au I'm worried they won't work... but I think yours look very $$$ pricey I have no doubt they will work, but the looks was the main thing for us. We didn't want saggy blinds (like you see at the Cafes) - and these blinds have stood up to the most recent wind storms and come out the other side still flat as a sheet. I'm very much a fan of 'getting what you paid for', but I'm also a person who understands marginal utility (return on investment) and in the end it is a question of how long you are going to live there, and how often you will use the space. I wasn't going to scrip on 2-3k after I've just paid 600k+ for the house and end up with saggy blinds that make people comment 'Lovely house - shame about the blinds...' I won't give Scott's prices away, but he certainly wasn't the most expensive quote I received. You are looking in the order 1k per blind (2.5m wide), with all the bells and whistles as you can see: ziptrak, hood boxes, pelmets etc. Plus the important thing was Scott did it all, including posts and painting, on time, with a proper clean up. Oh, we just had a house warming party in the space, and the plants weren't the only green there... The space after a lick of paint and some new furniture: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: My newly converted sunroom WARNING PICTURE HEAVY 13Oct 14, 2009 2:11 pm Fantastic!!! I am totally jealous of your outdoor area It looks amazing!! That is really going to put my tiny little alfresco area to shame viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Re: My newly converted sunroom WARNING PICTURE HEAVY 14Nov 18, 2009 11:29 pm I'm going to drag this thread up because we had Scott out today to quote and we have decided to go ahead with them for our blinds. I can't wait to get them and I'll post a photo when it's done Just thought I would add that their product seems far superior to others we have looked at. I like the abundance of plants all over the place and they look damn healthy too. lol Re: My newly converted sunroom WARNING PICTURE HEAVY 16Jan 13, 2010 7:54 pm thegourou20 Wow you house looks amazing. I like the abundance of plants all over the place and they look damn healthy too. lol Thanks for all the nice comments (+to everyone else too ) - the plants one of the best features of my house. They are a result of collecting all that pre-shower water (when it's still cold!) and watering them with it, I don't think they would have survived the heat otherwise. Recycled at least 15-20 buckets of water a week because of it. Re: My newly converted sunroom WARNING PICTURE HEAVY 17May 12, 2010 10:31 am What an awesome looking outdoor area! I am going to need to lift my game in the new house Depends how much direct sun it gets. Is there any shading (eaves or trees)? If the sun hits a window directly it doesn't matter too much if it's double or single… 1 10108 Well you won't get cooked by the afternoon sun when sitting out on the balcony on a summers afternoon but you won't have much to look at besides the neighbours… 4 3213 i think option 2 is much better with easy access to the garden without having to walk through the new sunroom which makes it a better room for guests and TV .a simple… 2 5184 |
