we are in the dreaded stage where we are trying to get our landscaping sorted. (Does anyone else find it hard to get good attention from landscapers??)
anyhoo, we are wanting to have timber slat fences (vertical slats) for about 25m which will include 3 gates. quote is coming back at about $350/linear metre - does that sound reasonable? seems like a lot - I know the timber is a finished timber rather than the rough type used in lap and cap but I would have thought that this extra timber cost would have been offset by the fact that there are gaps in the fence and therefore should require less timber!?
also, is there a rule of thumb cost for retaining walls costs - we are having timber as well as rendered masonry ones - is there a $/m2 rule of thumb for these?
appreciate any thoughts. (we are building in Sydney)
