Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Aug 06, 2009 7:46 pm After our house is built, we are looking at building a deck which will be covered by a pergola. One side of the deck will be right next to the easement on our property, does this influence anything we need to do with the footings (or any other requirements) of the deck/pergola? The decked area will be 5610 wide and 5610 deep. Also, one side of the deck will run along the rear of the garage which has a rear roller door on it (1940 wide), I was wondering what was the best solution for the change in levels? A stepped down area on the deck the width of the roller door? With the size of the deck/pergola we are building, we'll most likely need to get a building permit, how do we go about that? Can we draw our own plans or do they need to be done by a professional? Thanks in advance for your help Plans showing proposed deck area Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Building a deck & pergola - easement and other questions 2Aug 15, 2009 6:29 am can i make a suggestion . perthaps the start point might be a visit to your local council , building division and ask the questions of the fellow in charge.
