Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 May 15, 2009 4:37 am Ok, it's poll time. I am going to build a house on a 5 acre country block and I want a good size outdoor area for eating and relaxing. My living areas face north and they will open up to the alfresco/verandah area. Would you have an alfresco 8m x 5m (or some other size) or a 4m (or some other size) verandah across the back of the house? The alfresco may look more polished while the verandah may be more in keeping with a country house. But both would be lovely, is that out of the question? "Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions." — Elizabeth Gilbert Living in our new house. It wouldn't be direct light of course but there would still be a lot of light I would have thought. I have thought about having a veranda which would be part colourbond and part laserlight so it would let the sun in to heat the house in winter time. However this would mean that in summertime you would not get protection from the heat when sitting underneath the verandah unless you had another sort of cover like shade cloth that you fitted in the different seasons.
