Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Mar 26, 2009 3:04 pm Hello guys....the ceiling above the outdoor entry looks horrible. i was thinking of doing 2 options. 1. buying some pine wood, cutting it, painting it and putting it in strips accross from left to right. leaving gaps every 5 cm or so. 2. buying some decking timeber, and just putting it up there same method. (3.) installing 3x lights instead of that ugly single exposed fixture. Can anybody suggest: 1. the most suitable timber/material to place up there 2. any hints for lighting to be used? much appreciated papermate. Other than that you could use cedar lining boards or alike. I think gaps would look funny Re: Help ideas to renovate outside ceiling? PICS included 4Mar 27, 2009 3:57 pm Mr Smith hi i personally would put timber floor decking in, looks nice, and then get a few downlights put in. make it look heaps better timber decking would be best. but the area is 6m long x 2.15m wide and requires approx 20 x boards (using 2cm gaps). at $4.95 a metere that works out to be around $651.00. At first i thought this was way too much, but does anyone think this is out of the ordinary? total area is approx 13m2 Dukekamaya I think gaps would look funny without 2 - 3 cm gaps the cost becomes painful. above calculating is 68mm wide boards with 20mm gap. without gaps, that would total $939.00 i think without decking timber, any other material would look cheap. pine looks cactus, only seen merabu decking material.....advice??
