I will have 3 rows of 5 posts along our 8 meters deck. I would like to use 140x 45 timber for the bearers and joists. I will double up the bearers as you suggested. The bearers span would be 1.6m and the joists span will be 2.5m approx. Let me know if that makes sense. I would like for the deck to be quite solid, no bounce. So if I have to have 6 post instead of 5 I will. What do you think? I'm open for any suggestions. Thanks Re: Building 8 x 6 meters deck 4Aug 20, 2020 8:47 am Yep, keep the bearer spans to around 1.5m->1.6m joists at 450->600 mm this will depend on your decking choice Cheers Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Building 8 x 6 meters deck 5Aug 20, 2020 8:31 pm StructuralBIMGuy Yep, keep the bearer spans to around 1.5m->1.6m joists at 450->600 mm this will depend on your decking choice Cheers Hi Chris Thank you for that information. I will use 90 x 90 posts set 500mm below ground level. I was thinking to use 65 x 90 m10 pryda stirrups screwed on to the concrete and 90 x 90 post on top of this and then the bearers. What's better and up to code? Are the stirrups strong enough to hold the deck?
