A decent alternative to wooden deck at only a fraction of the cost (only few bucks per sq m for the material). Can be laid in DYI mode. Basically, I made stringers from pressure treated wood, then screwed those to the sides of the concrete steps. The treads fasten to the stringers and also rest on the concrete steps. Mine overhang by only about 10" on one side, so I didn't have to do anything else to add structure, just another stringer. I want to get rid of the shed and lay decking over the concrete slab. The shed and the concrete slab was a DIY project untaken by the previous owners and it doesn't look the best. Hopefully in the next few years.
