Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Oct 03, 2008 12:41 pm Our range hood is ok but the filter smells of chops (we don’t eat meat so it is very unpleasant for us) and hangs down and is dented in the middle. How much is it to replace just a filter?
The stove top is ok but has some rust and stuff around the hot plates, and we’d LOVE a new one installed just cause it’d look so nice. But more seriously, when you open the cupboards below the stove top and look up at the ceiling of those cupboards, you can see where the seal or whatever has come away and there’s this hole and you can see into the stove. Surely this isn’t good when cooking! The heat and stuff would get into the cupboards, right? How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Our range hood and stove need help. 2Oct 03, 2008 1:00 pm You can clean those steel mesh filters - run them through the dishwasher or hand wash with a good lot of cloudy ammonia to get rid of the grease (if it's really bad - soak in clothes washing powder - yep the stuff that goes in your washing machine!) After 4 years - we're in! Re: Our range hood and stove need help. 3Oct 03, 2008 2:00 pm Oh wow, washing machine.
Nah, it’s all bent out of shape anyway. We’d want a new one. How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Our range hood and stove need help. 4Oct 03, 2008 2:15 pm I didn't mean put it in the washing machine - you can soak it in your laundry tub with hot water and the powder.
Works for greasy dirty oven racks as well. After 4 years - we're in! Re: Our range hood and stove need help. 5Oct 04, 2008 12:02 am These filters are fairly easy to replace though and if it is the older soft mesh sort, not steel mesh, hard to clean too vigourously without damaging.
Our range hood is 8 years old and we have replaced filter twice - aprox $30 each, we had to ring up supplier in Adelaide and tell them the model no (written on the side of the unit) and they posted out to us. Re: Our range hood and stove need help. 6Oct 04, 2008 7:14 pm $30 each! That's so cheap! I'm gonna see if we can get a replacement from our manufacturer sent out. Knowing my luck the manufacturer's long gone out of business. lol How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Our range hood and stove need help. 7Oct 06, 2008 4:37 pm Well, I know the model number of our Westinghouse filter, but when I called at 4.20pm, I got a recording saying the hours were 8.30am to 4.30pm and to leave a msg (which I didn't do). That sort of annoys me. 10 minutes early they closed! (oh, unless their centre is in any state except QLD, in which case it would've been 5.20pm. Silly behind the times QLD without daylight saving)
Anyway, I'm hoping they can send a replacement filter, although will this be likely if the filter is 12 years old and the only types of range hoods they have on their website are quite modern and new? How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Hi there, I'm a conplete newbie to this, but I'm looking to put a floor down in my 6x9m shed. It's currently sitting on a 100mm thick concrete perimeter (dirt floor… 0 6468 Hi VK, Think it's worth investing time in an Owner Builder course to equip you with basic knowledge on Australian Building Industry and its regulations.
