Browse Forums Kitchen Corner Re: Kitchen Cabinet no longer square, not supported benchtop 3May 29, 2020 5:15 pm Splashers Pics would be needed for advice Very true. In the close up you can see the right door is in line with the panel next to the dishwasher and the left door is in line with the filler in the corner. The doors are square to each other but the right door is about 3mm lower. Not clear on the picture but the bottom right of the right door is also kicked out and the top right pulled right in in an attempt to get the door to be close to being shut. When it comes to hinge Up/down adjustment left door is in The middle but right door is as high as it can go. In the wide picture you can see the dishwasher basically the stone above it was not supported. I’ve now screwed a baton to the right hand side of the dishwasher to support the stone. As mentioned when new everything was in alignment but over time it looks like the right edge of the cupboard has dropped presumably by carrying all the weight of the stone. I’ve been adjusting every 6 months but now it seems to be a battle lost. I would think if I could somehow jack the right hand front up it would bring it back closer to square. There is about. 2mm gap between the top right of the cupboard and the stone now I have leveled and supported the stone. I'm interested in finding out if they have used adjustable feet or a solid kicker. If they are adjustable feet I have found that sometimes they can settle a bit which can cause issues. If you can access them then you can wind them up to get them back to where they are meant to be. It's hard to be able to tell without being able to throw a level on everything. Personally I'd remove both doors then check to see if the carcass is plumb up the front and side and check the level across the bottom. You should be able to see if that corner has dropped. Also try measuring across the diagonals of the opening. That will tell you if you are out of square. I was thinking of trying to remove it over the weekend. I am hoping seeing how that has been put on that it will have adjustable feet under to Jack it up a bit. Re: Kitchen Cabinet no longer square, not supported benchtop 6May 29, 2020 7:05 pm Your description sounds like it will be adjustable feet. If you can get that kicker return out you should be able to screw it up. Let us know how you go. There are no adjustable feet under this cupboard, it doesn’t look like it has a proper plinth either. A would have expected a proper plinth to be 4 sided box with maybe an extra front back support in the middle. But looks a lot like it is 3 sided with no middle support. I measured it up too and across the diagonals it is 1210mm top left to bottom right and 1200mm top right to bottom left. That certainly is consistent with what I am seeing and the way it is out of shape fits my suspicion that the bench top not being supported over the dishwasher has put way too much pressure on the right hand side of the cupboard. This is related to a bigger issue related to movement in the wall behind the cupboard which I have posted about here (and Chippy think you have made some comments on), I’m thinking this is going to cost the builder a lot of money to fix. The gap can be adjusted so it's tighter. You can definitely set up corner cabinets to have the same gap as standard doors. 2 13456 Depends...
