Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Dec 18, 2019 8:57 pm I am working with my cabinet maker in trying to work out the most ideal size for a window for our walk in pantry. We have a 2700mm ceiling height and with an 1100mm tall overhead means we have an opening of around 680mm for the window. Does anybody have a similar height splashback that they can show some photos of what this looks like? I'm concerned that it will be too tall. The alternative is to get a 600mm window and just plaster above the window (so the overhead wouldn't butt against the window), but I think this might look worse than a taller window. Re: Is 700mm too tall for a splashback window? 2Dec 24, 2019 10:41 am We don’t have a window splashback, but we have 740mm between bench and overheads and I don’t think it looks odd. We do have a bulkhead above the uppers as we also have 2.7m ceilings and this brings the top of the overheads to 2.39m to match the top of the internal doors (900mm bench height, 740mm splashback, 750mm overheads). As we are having an induction cooktop the rangehood (undermount) is recommended to be 700-750mm above the cooktop. If it were me, I’d have the window the entire height - frame to bench and frame to underneath overheads). Bear in mind that the window size is not the glass size either, so a 700mm window will include the frame. I ordered the 740 window in the end so that the overheads will butt into the window head and the stone will flow into the window. Thanks for the images, very helpful!
