Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 24, 2008 12:53 pm hi all,
First post weeee .:0. I bought a house last year (just hit its 1st bday a few days ago ) and just checking what i'm doing is right. and if anyone has any ideas. I've painted my house walls and skirting/window frames with gentle touch qtr strength. I have med-dark awesome wooden floorboards. This colour also goes around the walls into the kitchen. On the weekend I just painted my cupboard doors, around the breakfast bar, basically everything that wasn't the wall with white knight tile paint to get gloss look. The laminate paint is satin and they say as a hint use tile if you want gloss look which I did. The colour I used for the cupboards is called Fair Bianca half str. This seems to be similar and lighter compared to gentle touch qtr str on the walls. Down the track I'm thinking of black ish granite transformations benchtop (currently laminate blue) and not I'm not sure about the splashback yet which is currently tiles and blue like the benchtop. (my mum said she will kill me if I paint/get rid of the tiles shes like them. hhmmm. ) I'm changing the handles to be chrome/stainless steel look. And thinking of Brushed aluminum as the kickboards. The window in the kitchen I was thinking of painting Gentle touch quarter to blend into the wall it attaches too. (currently wood look). First off I'm single and coloured blind big time... how does these colours go together ? recap. benchtop - Black granite. similar to this. splashback - unknown atm. thinking glass light colour. walls - gentle touch qtr str. cupboards/breaky bar/around oven etc. - Fair bianca half str. oven itself and cooktop are black. fridge is silver look. (not stainless steel) handles - changing from wood to chrome/stainless steel look. kickboard - changing from black to brushed aluminum. opinions ? being colourblind and doing this on my own makes it VERY HARD. (I'm about the worst you can get with colour blindless btw.). Batesy Re: am I going the right way. 2Sep 24, 2008 1:00 pm Hi Batesy and welcome to the forum....

Batesy. PS I'm called Batesy as I have a identical twin and no one could or still can tell us apart. Batesy is the easy choice as you dont need to pick who is who. Re: am I going the right way. 7Sep 24, 2008 1:45 pm Another twin, there is something definately in the cyber water here!
From those snapshots, fair bianca looks like it is a cool colour whilst the gentle touch looks warm. If that is the case, and not a product of my screens imagination, then I don't think they work together. Sorry. But the fair bianca would look magnificent with black granite. Bt I am quite partial to cool crisp interiors. HH (Mother of twins) Re: am I going the right way. 8Sep 24, 2008 4:12 pm joles Twins.... Really??? Oh how exciting!!!! It's almost too good to be true! holy... /hides. yes I'm on RSVP!!. though I havent done anything with it yet and requires a touch up. hhmm what was my name on it again...thinking..... NERD!! ? well you could say so yes, I'm not a Nerd's nerd though.. I'm in IT and normal so to speak. I used 2 different colours as I didnt want the walls / kitchen to be all the same. My thinking was lighter tone kitchen black benchtop, darker tone walls. (nfi really) warm/cool colours ? what are they!!... I thought for sure both were the same type of tone. (remember me saying coloured blind as a bat though). oh glad someone said they were both warm. phew.. had me worried. I picked gentle touch qtr str as it was in the earlier dulux booklet with stone type tones its description was it works well with dark furniture and it looked quite good. I've currently got black/dark furniture. Going contempary look with black. lighter tone for kitchen. I've also seen some HN kitchens with Fair bianca and thought it looked good though I went the lighter version. most people say go with what you want... I certainly need help and dont want to end up with purple, pink mixed with stone, orange or red. . batesy[/quote] Re: am I going the right way. 13Sep 24, 2008 5:14 pm Batesy... me calling you a nerd is a big compliment check out these threads...... there are others.. but you get the idea.
