Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 10, 2019 10:18 pm In our kitchen design we have room for 1 appliance tower where the smeg oven and microwave will be, with pot drawer underneath and Over Head Cupboards above. However we are also considering getting the matching Smeg coffee machine, except we don't have room anywhere else in the kitchen to have it, so we would need to have all 3 appliances on top of eachother, most likely coffee machine on top, then oven in middle and then microwave/griller at the bottom. The negative to this is we essentially lose our bottom pot drawer, however we aren't too fussed with that. However I'm also a bit worried about the fact the microwave will be quite low. Usually in the marketing and display pics and display homes, they have appliances next to eachother in side by side config, however we don't have the room to this as we dont want to sacrifice benchspace. Has anyone seen this done much before? Here's a pic from an old Smeg catalogue that shows what I mean Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Appliance tower - 3 appliances too much? 2Sep 10, 2019 11:46 pm Can you move the microwave away from the oven stack? Possibly somewhere under the bench. With three appliances stacked, the top unit will be quite high putting users at risk of spilling hot liquids/food on themselves. Re: Appliance tower - 3 appliances too much? 3Sep 11, 2019 1:40 am Built-in appliance branded coffee machines (even the best ones eg Miele) are generally never as good as specialised ones. What makes sense to have in your appliance tower is a steamer oven (which can also be sometimes combined with oven function) and a warmer drawer (e.g. under the oven). Also, FYI Neff makes ovens which can also work as microwaves, I am quite sure some other vendors do the same too. Re: Appliance tower - 3 appliances too much? 4Sep 17, 2019 8:01 pm We side by side ovens at a perfect height and microwave built in just under island which is very user friendly and convenient with bench just where you need it, problem with that set up of four is the top are two high and you do spill food and drink from coffee machine and microwave as my sister's house constantly does with that set up,I also find my Jura coffee machine which sits on my bench against wall kills my sister's built in Miele coffee machine with jura machine making froth so much cremier It will be neat but you won't have much freeboard.
