It was custom made so it hurt the pocket a bit. They did the job from start to finish in terms of demolishing and installation of kitchen with appliances (no splashback, lighting, flooring, or cornices). I’ve been having problems with them from the start in terms of poor service. Yesterday I went to have a look at the work (after about 6 weeks of work, they promised to get it done within two weeks) and noticed there are heaps of chips of paint, scratches and my new dishwasher is dinged. Should I go fair trading route, continue to press him or let it go? Sigh... I just want the kitchen finished (there’s still panelling to be done for bottom cupboards) and to move back home. Btw I got this company even though they’re not the cheapest but I thought they would do a good job because their handful of reviews looked positive - I do question their authenticity now. There are other damage too these are just half the examples. Re: Kitchen and appliances damaged by kitchen company 3Aug 06, 2019 11:45 am IamSAM the damage needs replacement not repair. I just got a reply from him and he said he’ll “touch up” the damage. Like you said I think some if not all the damage are beyond mere “touch up”. I believe the standard test at tribunals (if we do go fair trading route) is what people in the same industry would do in the instance. Are you in the industry? If so, is that what you do- replace everything? Thank you Re: Kitchen and appliances damaged by kitchen company 4Aug 06, 2019 11:59 am Do you have a contract? If you are paying for new, you should get new unless you are prepared to accept "touched up" damaged items at an appropriate discount. 3in1 Supadiverta. Should i tell him that I want a discount beforehand or after the work is done? I’m concerned that if I ask for discount beforehand he’ll do a crap job of “touching up” and won’t finish the kitchen (we still need to get the panels under the cupboard and dishwasher connected) Re: Kitchen and appliances damaged by kitchen company 7Aug 06, 2019 1:00 pm Raejo Raejo SaveH2O Do you have a contract? So confused 🤷🏻♀️ Re: Kitchen and appliances damaged by kitchen company 8Aug 06, 2019 3:02 pm You would need to make your position clear and not agree to pay for less that you have the right to expect. You need to express your concern in written communication and ask him to guarantee in writing that any touch up would be indistinguishable from new. If you then agree in writing for him to proceed on that basis and he then produced a product that was substandard, he would need to come to some arrangement with you or it is off to the tribunal to sort out. Either way, you will need a paper trail. With any agreement, always remember that if it isn't written, it was never said. 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage. Such a good reminder, I know this but forget at times and I thank you for the reminder! Re: Kitchen and appliances damaged by kitchen company 12Aug 06, 2019 6:24 pm I do have one big problem and it’s that I can’t move back home, it’s been six weeks already 😭 I don’t know how long this would take. Partner is pressuring me to concede just so we can move home. Is anyone aware if the kitchen company is responsible for compensating us living out of home due to unreasonable delays? I don’t want compensation for the last few weeks but for the time going forward for who knows how long the repairs/replacements would take. Re: Kitchen and appliances damaged by kitchen company 15Aug 06, 2019 11:08 pm SaveH2O If you are worried about that first photo it's carcass board which is usually HMR PB. The end panel needs to be installed which is why you can see the nail and screws. That's not an issue as it gets covered. The rest of it is not great. It looks like 2 pac and occasionally there will be little blemishes in it but if this was a kitchen I was installing I would take those panels back to my painter and have them redone. If I wouldn't be happy with it in my own house I won't put it in a customers house. The dented DW is just poor. If the kitchen installer is also supplying/installing the DW then its on them to rectify the damage. I got my own dishwasher it was new in packaging and they installed it and then removed it for the flooring. The kitchen project manager is denying liability. No unfortunately not I just trusted it was the material he showed me. I feel silly now though should have that included in the contract Re: Kitchen and appliances damaged by kitchen company 20Aug 10, 2019 10:42 pm Raejo chippy @SaveH2O If you are worried about that first photo it's carcass board which is usually HMR PB.
