Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Apr 08, 2019 9:03 pm Trying to do something different with our 3m x 1.2m island bench. Looking at getting Ceasarstone Cloudburst (which I know is a bit more expensive). Currently I just have a 20mm thick waterfall on both sides. However I love the look of curved bench with a thick edge as per the image. Can anyone tell me cost differences for the stone mason to do something like this (thicker edges and circular) as opposed to straight waterfalls on both sides mitred edge? Thanks! In the above pic, if you want 40mm or thicker and don't want a general substrate under the centre, you will have to have 2 (or more depending on the thickness you want) pieces of stone laminated the whole way through to get that thickness. This is different to a normal 40mm or larger island, where just the edge is laminated. This could easily mean you need to buy a whole other slab to make this look work. Edit: Forgot to mention, in the above pic, i'd be pretty sure that they have a steel reinforcing plate running on the underside or inside of that stone, which will bump your price. I am doing a 100mm radius curved edge on both my island and drop down table in my new build, but am still a ways off. I'm using natural New York Marble, but am doing 20mm. Will post pics in a few months though if interested. Re: Curved Kitchen Bench Stonetops 4Apr 28, 2019 9:32 pm travisaus In general, the curve won't add a huge amount to your pricing.
