Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jan 28, 2019 12:12 pm Kitchen question.. We are currently at plaster stage when I have realised that our kitchen looks out of proprotion to the large living/dining. The kitchen is narrow with only 1m between bench with an over to the other bench- not very practical 🤦🏼♀️ I’m therefore looking to redesign this with minimal impact of cost given we are already at plaster stage. I have the two possible designs in mind. Any feedback or alternate ideas would be great. 1) island bench rotated facing dining area 2) create L shape bench Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Kitchen layout question 2Feb 01, 2019 2:47 pm Option 1 seems most practical than the L shape - assuming it will be rotated so that there is a direct access from dining to pantry. It offers a nice large casual eating spot. The L shape means a long walk thru the kitchen to the pantry. Re: Kitchen layout question 3Feb 01, 2019 3:03 pm Depends on what you are planning to mainly use your bench for. From what I see, you are quite alright even without bench at all, you have enough cutting space right between sink and oven. If you are planning to use it as a small bar area for parties or informal eating area, option 2 looks so much better (but limits access to your kitchen to only one side - it is not a problem then go for it (but where would your fridge go in that case?). Alternatively, just place a bench higher and leave 1200 mm spacing between your fridge and the bench end. Re: Kitchen layout question 4Mar 18, 2019 6:24 pm option 2 allows people to get into the WIP without disrupting the work area (working triangle) whilst creating more bench space. Though if you went option 1 you should bring your island of the wall to create a walkway to the WIP, especially if the fridge is in there. You never have a fridge against wall as you’ve drawn. The doors can’t open past 90 degrees and it’s difficult and maybe impossible to remove drawers 2 15600 Hi, We're building a double-storey in Perth and I'm undecided with the kitchen sink situation. So I have tried two other options: The lower one is… 3 6139 |
