Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Nov 28, 2018 8:40 am Hi guys, we noticed in our plans we have a fixed panel under our induction cooktop- our builder refuses to allow us to change it to a drawer as “it’s the way they have always done it” even though I’ve provided them a schematic from the cooktop manufacturer showing the clearances around the cooktop will allow for a drawer. Does anyone know how much work would be involved in removing said fixed panel after handover and converting to a drawer. 900 wide x 210 deep is a lot of space to lose- but the builder won’t budge. I’ve seen a couple of examples of drawers under cooktops and it doesn’t look that complex to achieve. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Thanks guys! Re: Fixed panel under induction cooktop- hard to change to d 2Nov 28, 2018 8:55 am Make sure you stipulate that its a removable fixed panel(for excess) Some fixed panels are exactly that, fixed and cant be removed. If the panel is fixed but easily removable you could actually use the panel as a drawer front and only need the drawer internals. Pretty sure it’s the correct drawing- but my builder doesn’t do it that way... they either have an oven under the cooktop, or a fixed panel. Just get them to leave it open and get a joiner to install drawer hardware later. 5 7309 My daughter and son in law are about to start building, they are having a 600mm induction cook top and 900mm oven.
