Got a quick question. I have timber floor boards laid first with caesarstone island with waterfall plonked on top.
Builder have left a small gap between the stone and the floor. The builder says they can caulk the gap if I want but they said they usually don’t do it as the caulk will get dirty.
I’m just worried that dirt and water getting between the floor board and the island.
What should I do? What’s everyone else’s kitchen like?

We don’t have a stone waterfall, but just laminate end-boards. They are fitted tight to the floorboards, with no caulk or any other filler. So far, everything is fine.
How big is the gap you are taking about?

About 1-2mm. Dirt dust water can definitely get in. I can even see a little bit of what looks like support leg inside. Is that right?
Ours are about 1mm at the worst (floorboards are not perfectly uniform being made of recycled timber). I guess if I thought about it, I'd like a tighter fit, but 1 to 2mm is pretty small. I do agree, however, that caulk will just end up looking dirty.

Why is there a gap in the first place?
