Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 03, 2018 10:11 am Hi all, we've been looking at replacing our cabinet doors with a set of handle less ones. We've spoken to a cabinet maker about just getting the doors made and installed and they came back with a quote of 10k. Apparently they can't just replace the doors but have to remove the stone and redo the cabinets inside. Does anyone know if this is the case? We are still waiting for a few more quotes so hopefully something different comes up Re: Replacing cabinet doors with handle less 2Sep 03, 2018 10:38 am vincent2166 Apparently they can't just replace the doors but have to remove the stone and redo the cabinets inside. Does anyone know if this is the case? I'd be surprised if that was the case, but of course since you have provided no pictures we really couldn’t say. There might be something peculiar about your current kitchen installation. Re: Replacing cabinet doors with handle less 4Sep 03, 2018 1:50 pm bank Given that you lose space inside handle less drawers, I thinking it makes sense that the inside must be different? Not sure about cupboard doors though. OP only mentioned replacing cabinet doors. Re: Replacing cabinet doors with handle less 5Sep 03, 2018 10:43 pm Hi Vincent. When you say handle less do you mean push to open or recessed finger pulls/ sharknose. Push to open is a cheap option as it's simply new doors and some hardware changes but the recessed finger pulls or sharknose requires modification of the carcass and will be expensive. There might be something peculiar about your current kitchen installation. If they are talking about the standard sharknose handleless doors and drawers then it is most certainly the case! Sharknose doors and drawers have a 50mm polyurethane rail cut into the cabinet edges to cover the gap created by the finger space. As some users have said, shark nose profile handles will require alterations to the cabinetry which will make the whole job pointless to renovate as it would be much more cost efficient to get a brand new kitchen. 10k is bloody steep btw. However,if you can be satisfied with the oats that have already been through the horse, that comes a little cheaper. at most it will have a short lintel which could be moved up just below the ceiling or even above.
