If it’s above the island and has the prescribed distance between bench top and pendant I don’t see a problem with it, no one should be bumping their head on the pendant. Can’t remember what the recommended distance between pendants and bench tops - is it 70-90cm? So assuming a bench top of 90cm, that still leaves a min of 60cm from ceiling to base of pendant. All I would add is that how it looks will depend on the height and width of your pendant lights.
