Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jul 23, 2018 4:23 pm Does an all white laminate kitchen (matt) look cheap? We're renovating our largish kitchen and will have stone on the bench tops but I don't think our budget will stretch to 2pac unfortunately. I'm concerned it might look more like a laundry cupboard rather a kitchen. Any opinions would be appreciated before we part with $20 to $25k! Re: All white laminex kitchen 2Jul 23, 2018 5:29 pm I am not a fan of matt laminate, I think it can look cheap. Spend a little bit more or a sheen laminate with 20mm stone and it will look heaps better and you should be able to do it for your budget. Do you know if Laminex Silk is high gloss or semi gloss? I'm not a fan of matt but I don't like high gloss either. We will definitely go stone. One more question if you don't mind, Wallspan told me that the modern flat handles have very sharp edges so aren't ideal for families with young children, do you know if there are different brands that are a better option? Thanks again. Re: All white laminex kitchen 4Jul 23, 2018 7:12 pm CathyG Thanks for your reply. Do you know if Laminex Silk is high gloss or semi gloss? Thanks again. Silk is a semi gloss. If you see a kitchen in "silk"-Laminex or "sheen"-Polytec in isolation it looks quite glossy but when seen side by side with a true high gloss you can really see the difference. Having said that most people would call a silk kitchen a gloss kitchen. As far as handles go there are so many different suppliers and styles that you can choose from. You should be able to find something that will fit the bill. You cabinet maker should be able to point you in the direction you are looking. All the best.
