Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 07, 2008 10:30 pm HI everyone,
We have our tender appointment in two weeks and are a bit hesitant now about the colour we have chosen for the bottom kitchen cupboards, and the laundry and bathroom cabinets. It is called New Graphite by Laminex and we are worried it will be too dark. It is really hard to judge from a small colour sample under the dim lights in our rental home especially since our new home will have downlights. Does anyone have this colour in their house at all and are willing to share pictures? Thanks Building our dream H3nl3y home together House: Cott3sloe Modifications: Extended ensuite, grand dining, grand rumpus, Bedroom 4 option, two plus garage Frame done, roof tiles are on, brickes start this week! Re: New Graphite laminex? 4Sep 08, 2008 6:10 pm Thanks for you replies! Judie, what other colours are you using to go with it? Our kitchen bench top is a white Caeserstone (Nova Aurora I think) and the top cabinets will be a Parchment colour.
Paddy - oh, a larger sample will really come in handy! I didn't know they did them that big, so I will ring them up and ask, thanks! Re: New Graphite laminex? 6Sep 08, 2008 8:07 pm We used it in our last build in our bathrooms and from memory the samples appeared darker.
We had white Corian benchtops and charcoal polished porcelain tiles too, so dark on the bottom white up top. IMO it gave the small rooms a bit more depth, it certainly didnt make them look any smaller than they already were. Excuse the dusty photo, it was taken prior to handover so the floor isn't very shiny. Nexus, I'm using the New Graphite for the vanities (downstairs en-suite, laundry, upstairs bathroom and en-suite). The top is going to be done in Formica Rock Salt velvet finish. Basins are white squarish. Our kitchen is different - pale grey gloss cabinets with a granite top (can't remember the name, but it's similar to Cracked Pepper Caesarstone, but with a cream base instead of white). Judie Re: New Graphite laminex? 8Sep 09, 2008 8:34 pm Happyhome - Thankyou so much for that!!!!! The floor tiles you have also resemble really closely the ones that we chose for our bathroom and ensuite, and I was worried that the New Graphite would look odd against them. However your photos have convinced me otherwise, and I think they do go nicely together, so I really appreciate you posting that!
Judie - the Rock Salt looks lovely! We also made sure the skirting tile was the charcoal so not to break the colour up. IMO that would look odd otherwise. Look forward to seeing your finished photos.
