Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Feb 11, 2018 2:20 pm Floating floor and stone waterfalls have always been an issue! No one likes Scotia around their stone. I found this photo and know that this can be done, you just need to find the right installer to help you with this problem. Good luck.... press on, and don't settle for less. When I do waterfalls to floating floors I do the following. I start by building a proper kickboard (no plastic legs) out of waterproof plywood. Think a ladder style kickboard. This kickboard is securely screwed to the subfloor. Cabinets are then fitted. No stone or kickboard faces have been installed at this point. Floating floor is now installed. At this point the stone is measured up. A small 2mm gap is allowed between the bottom of the waterfall and the floating floor. When the stone is installed the waterfalls are glued to the cabinetry and then a tiny silicon join is run between them and the floor. Kickboard faces are now installed. This method allows for a completely seamless look with no mouldings at all. The entire weight of the stone is supported by the kickboards and cabinets. I have done this a number of times now and it has worked every time. Its crazy the what passes for a kitchen when build be these guys. They just don't care.
