Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Sep 01, 2008 12:26 pm Our kitchen sink is average, with an insinkerator that we don’t want to use. The sink itself needs new seals and the plug holes are a bit rusty-looking.
We want a new sink, and have seen nice standard double ones from Harvey Norman for $199. Is this a good/ok price? How much would a plumber charge to actually install it once purchased? We don’t want the insinkerator to be used or connected if possible. We have a dishwasher that needs to be connected. Also, there is a single mixer tap. Does any of this make it more awkward or expensive to install? Thanks! How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Replacing a kitchen sink (double) 2Sep 02, 2008 8:29 am Grace I am having plumbers today and relocating the pipes to under the bench, and installing a new sink, reconecting the taps, sink and dishwasher over $600 but... it is WA so it might be much cheaper in Q.
Maggie Re: Replacing a kitchen sink (double) 4Sep 04, 2008 9:56 am Woah boy! I had NO idea it’d be SO expensive. And that’s on top of the $200 for the actual sink, right?
I thought it’d be around $200 or so…to just remove the existing sink, place the new one in there, seal around it, and connect the existing pipes. *shrug* How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Replacing a kitchen sink (double) 5Sep 04, 2008 10:00 am You might be able to find a handy man that can do some of these things for you and they might not charge as much. Have a look in your local newpaper and ring around. Some of these handymen are actually old tradesmen, either plumbers or sparkys, you never know you could get some other jobs done while hes there. Good Luck............K Re: Replacing a kitchen sink (double) 7Sep 05, 2008 10:47 am OH MY GOD, really?! The Good Guys, eh? Wow, they really are “good”, aren’t they!? So…if I was to buy a sink (does it have to be a sink from there, or can it be from elsewhere?) then they will seriously come and install it for $100? And that includes fitting the taps back on and the pipes and dishwasher things and stuff?? How the hell did I become a senior member!?
