Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Dec 11, 2017 6:59 am Hi all. Quick question. What is a good amount of clearance to have each side of the fridge - enough for a fridge to fit comfortably without there being too big a gap each side? We are still at frame stage and I’ve measured 15cm clearance gap each side of our fridge. That seems a bit much to me. If so, not sure what we could do about it now? Re: Fridge cavity - what’s a good amount of space each side? 2Dec 11, 2017 7:08 am 150mm is ok, it leaves space for a larger fridge in the future - does that allow for gyprock and skirting boards? We left 100mm per side Where we are now, the fridge is a snug fit at 960mm, and no one makes a 960mm fridge anymore, they're all 1000mm Our Bayside KDR Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78298 Re: Fridge cavity - what’s a good amount of space each side? 3Dec 11, 2017 8:51 pm 25-50mm is OK for ventilation although you may need more to allow for the door/s to open The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Fridge cavity - what’s a good amount of space each side? 4Dec 12, 2017 5:00 pm Thanks for the comments. I’ve measured timber to timber so with plaster it should be a bit smaller. We only upgraded our fridge a few years backs, it’s a Samsung French door model, so can’t see us upgrading any time soon. Hence preferred a bit more of a snug fit and was worried there’d be too much of a gap either side Re: Fridge cavity - what’s a good amount of space each side? 5Dec 12, 2017 9:27 pm You need to check the manual for the fridge as that will tell you minimum clearance requirements for ventilation. Anything less and you run the risk of damaging the fridge, or at least shortening its life. Re: Fridge cavity - what’s a good amount of space each side? 8Dec 18, 2017 4:07 pm arrow224 Some fridges manuals suggest a minimum of 200mm each side and 300mm on top. At least the Hisense one I looked at today said that. Really, I haven't seen a fridge yet that needs that much space Cutting Edge Kitchens and Cabinet Making http://cuttingedgekitchens.net.au http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cutting-Edge-Kitchens/290484196676 Mobile : 0419 430 575 PH: 9452 4772 Fax :9452 4772 cuttingedgekitchens@outlook.com Re: Fridge cavity - what’s a good amount of space each side? 9Dec 18, 2017 4:08 pm You should check the fridge manual for minimum spaces. I normally allow 25mm on each side. Re: Fridge cavity - what’s a good amount of space each side? 11Dec 27, 2017 4:12 pm They shouldn't really need that much if there is a vent at the back for the hot air to escape to. Most fridge cavities I've ever seen with an overhead cupboard onto have a 200-300mm opening behind which allows the air to vent into the cavity. Not unless you have managed to put it as a special condition into the contract somehow. 1 6052 OK, The orange lines on bricks are where I can see cracking to the motar joints, but further up you can also see cracking through brick work. it takes a lot of stress to… 6 1618 I am saying that double brick has similar thermal performance due to thermal mass effect.
