Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 20, 2017 11:08 pm Hello Friends, I want to change my kitchen's old looks. Please suggest me what should i do Respray or remodelling? Thank you. Re: Suggestion needed for Kitchen 2May 26, 2017 2:40 pm We need a bit more info to be able to give you advice. A picture of your existing kitchen would really help. How old is the kitchen, what type of doors and what is the condition of the cabinets? But of course deciding between a remodelling or repainting has a lot more considerations involved - namely the price you need to pay! I'd say work out your budget and decide what kind of look you're going for. Then find a builder or designer who can help you achieve what you want. What seems to be the officer's problem? I have seen some terriable colour doors, or doors that are scratched and chipped that only need a new coat of spray paint and it brings life back into a kitchen. Respraying can cost as little as $3000(if you pull the doors off yourself) where a new kitchen starts around $30,000! As I said in my first post above we cant really answer the OPs questions because we don't know what type of door it is. If the door was melamine or vacuum form then our answers would be totally different compared with if it was a 2pac door. If the kitchen was an old face frame style then you would rip it out all together. It really depends on the type of kitchen the OP has. PS, wouldn't a kitchen company be far more help and save money in the long run rather than getting a builder? Doing a kitchen reno through a builder attracts a large builders margin. However, I don't think the issue is just patching things up and getting things to look all shiny and new though. I personally would need to consider the matter of functionality as well although I would likely DIY most upgrades on my own. No the fireplace doesn’t work. It’s been enclosed.
