Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 05, 2017 8:31 pm Hi All, I'm new here. I'm currently in the process of building a new home, and have just completed my colour selection with the builder. We're a little unsure with our selections for the kitchen, in particular the splashback we chose, and just wanted some opinions. I have until tomorrow to decide if I want to change anything. Keen to hear thoughts from people, particularly on the splashback as we're not too sure how it'll look. I LOVE hexagon tiles and I think white will look so classy in the kitchen. Do it!!!!!!!!! Thanks so much for the reply Magavin! We were a bit unsure as it can be hard to picture an entire kitchen based off a small sample, but we like hexagon tiles too Appreciate the feedback. Re: Need help with kitchen colour selection 5Mar 06, 2017 9:52 am No worries Nuri. I know what you mean about it being hard to gauge from a small sample! I originally had hexies in mind for my white kitchen but couldn't find the perfect ones at my tile shop so ended up with white bevilled subways instead. I did manage to find some coloured hexies in different grey shades to use in my ensuite though so I'm satisfied with that. I love the white for the kitchen though it's timeless and fresh. Love your style Re: Need help with kitchen colour selection 6Mar 06, 2017 10:29 am To be honest we weren't actually after hex tiles for the kitchen. We didn't know what we really wanted other than the colour, but after looking at samples from the builder's range these stood out to us, after originally looking at subway tiles like yourself. White is definitely nice. We wanted a bold contrast between splashback, benches and cupboards though, so we went dark for the cupboards and white for the bench and splashback, so that it stood out. Hoping that it'll look great when it's done! Re: Need help with kitchen colour selection 7May 23, 2017 2:31 pm Hey, Nuri! the tiles design you have selected is really awesome but you should change the color of tiles to the golden brown. With time, white looks dirty whereas golden brown still remains the same. Re: Need help with kitchen colour selection 8May 23, 2017 2:45 pm hi ablertsean, Thanks for the input. It's too late to change anything at this stage however and that particular tile only comes in that colour. I'm not concerned with it changing colour, more concerned with the grout getting dirty. Can't say I've heard of white tiles changing colour permanently, but if they do I'll probably rip the whole lot out and install a glass splashback.
