Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 28, 2017 7:10 pm Hi Everyone I am fairly new to this forum so please let me know if I am in the wrong area. So we are building a new kitchen and its turning out more complicated than building a whole house! We have five quotes for our new kitchen and have narrowed it down to two. One of the two we are very keen on, he has excellent reviews, gives great honest advice and is really knowledgeable. Now the bit I am finding hard to get my head around, is that while he has all his own regular tradies, they are quoted separate to his work, and we then pay each trade once their part is finished. He does not then make a cut on the trades, even though they work under his supervision. [We also get to use the tradies for some other odd jobs we have if needed, which could be a great help]. All is quoted in full detail up front. So like I said, he has great reviews and testimonials, nothing negative at all, I have contacted two, and we even have a neighbor very happy with him, he has completed approx 140 kitchens in the past 2 years I love that the more personalized service, and he is excellent, the best by far, with advice and working out every detail, and his price overall is lower than the big showroom companies, and actually includes much more So while I am keen and ready to go with him, I have this niggling in my head about this way of paying the trades, and any advice or opinions on this would be very much appreciated????? Thank you in advance Re: Paying Kitchen Tradies? 2May 28, 2017 8:08 pm The payment methodology doesn't sound wrong to me at all, and I think it gives you a fair bit of flexibility. However, if something goes wrong it could be difficult to pin down the source and so find who is responsible to cover the warranty. If you can get the prime kitchen guy to take on that responsibility then you might have the best situation. Re: Paying Kitchen Tradies? 3May 29, 2017 11:55 am I would say for warranty reasons its actually better to pay them separately. Big company's chop and change there tradie. If you ever have an issue with plumbing or electrical it would be better to have the same company back. If you pay them directly you also have direct warranty with them and also direct cover from there insurance. I really don't see it as an issue at all. Will take all that on board I think I just had to get my head around the concept especially with being so keen in every other aspect. Thank you Elvis has left the building... The site supervisor quit after 2 month on the project. I guess he was just instructed to bark at people, but didn't like when he was… 26 21656 No. It's not original.
