They are trying to create a new conversation around it and give it a new lease on life. Vinyl definitely has it's uses, although it's not for everyone. Laminex still sells a heck of a lot of it, with not many complaints. The "super matt" finish is very cool. The black colour (I think it's called Midnight) feels like a piece of car tyre rubber. Silk melamine board will outperform vinyl, hands down. But vinyl looks better because of the seamless edges. Colourtech is 2 pack, re-named. It's a similar price to vinyl, but it can chip because it's more brittle. Where as vinyl can peel because the glue doesn't hold up to heat and humidity. You are on the ball there Verity Jayne!! We are using all three types of finishes in our new Metricon home. Coming from a house that has Vinyl wrap (now called FormWrap) we can't say a bad thing about it. It was our first preference to have it in our kitchen as it's more hard wearing and easier to clean without any scratches. There are how ever a few limitation, it's mainly related to colour but most importantly the type of door profiles you can choose. We wanted Shaker door profile so we had to go with 2Pack. Ensuite and Bathroom we Classic flat profile with Form Wrap. In the laundry, to save cost we used laminex. I couldn't attached the photo for some reason.
