Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Aug 09, 2008 7:28 pm What a great forum. I've found this just in time - about to sign off on a contract for my new kitchen & would appreciate some advice. Photo of current kitchen attached.
1 APPLIANCES etc (I've noticed a forum preference for Electrolux) - Rangehood - Blanco (quiet) Cooktop - Westinghouse PHN768U (touch controls) Oven - Westinghouse PGN657W (separate grill, under bench, space limited) Dishwasher - Westinghouse SB916WK (am aware of the recall but am assured this has been resolved. 2nd choice Bosch SGS46M62AU) Microwave - own (but may replace- size approx 36L suggestions?) Sink & Taps - suggestions? 1 & 3/4 sinks + flick mixer but which ones? Not undermount. Fridge - suggestions? Preferred size up to 420L, top or bottom mount? 2 DESIGN - Drawers or cupboards? Design has mostly cupboards with drawers in lower 1/2 pantry + 1 x 4 drawer floor unit. Rangehood and side cupboards aligned at bottom (ie straight across) apparently this will be more economical for glass splashback, views? Pros & cons? Will this look OK? Cupboards will be higher and boxed to ceiling (whoo hooo! No more cupboard tops to clean!) 3. COLOURS etc Doors + Panels - Laminex Flint Finish - Moleskin Kickboard - TBA suggested Aluminum Laminate? Is this durable, will it mark Splashback - crystal glass, colour: not sure trying for a neutral look so I can add bright accessories (open plan kitchen, dining, lounge) Bench - Quantum Quartz - Coral Reef 20mm arrissed. Will this be durable, any issues? Handles - bow (possibly wobble bow) vertical cupboards + horizontal drawers Floor: Boral Silkwood Sydney Blue Gum or spotted gum or should I go for tiles? Pros & cons? Sorry for the long post but I'm keen to hear some expert opinions. What you guys don't know isn't worth knowing! Also when you have quiet moment read through some of the posts, do a search for things that interest you. You will find most answers to your appliance questions and placing them.
I have an answer to your cupboards/drawer question... it is much easier to have drawers, you have easy access but drawers are more expensive. Some people put drawing baskets in their cabinets instead of drawers. I am having all drawers at the bottom with the exception of the sink cupbard (pipes there no space for drawers) Maggie Re: Appliances, Design & Colour Part 1 4Aug 10, 2008 8:29 am Kitchens
