Hello all,
I have had four kitchen quotes, ranging from $16K to 30K (!) and the latest kitchen guy says that if you want glossy melamine cabinets, you need a high quality finish. According to him, satin/sheen finish (eg Polytec Melamine Sheen) is inferior, because the texture of the MDF beneath the .7mm melamine is detectable. He recommends Polytec Ultraglaze, which is 1.2mm thick and certainly does look swanky.
My questions are:
1. Does anyone agree with his views on the satin/sheen finish?
2. Even if he's right, is is really that big a deal? Is the satin/sheen still perfectly acceptable, both in terms of aesthetics and of quality?
Thanks
