Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jul 11, 2016 9:34 am Hi ...we have just late last week had our new kitchen installed, apart from the stone benchtops which we are waiting on. I am over the moon about it and loving the look of the new kitchen. We opted for a diagonal corner pantry, because we like them and it seemed the best option for the space we had. I'm not unhappy at all that we went with a diagonal but I think the shelving they have supplied is a little too deep. There are 5 shelves and they are 430mm deep which I feel is too deep and I'm sure I'll end up losing things in the back, especially in the corner. For those who have a diagonal corner pantry, what is the depth of your shelves. Or, what is considered a good workable depth for shelving in a corner pantry. I want them to be the same depth all the way around. I'm thinking of asking the cabinet maker to cut them back by 100mm to 330mm. Does this sound a more reasonable depth or would I regret it? Any feedback is welcome Thanks Re: Corner Pantry Shelf Depth 2Jul 11, 2016 11:13 am 400-450mm is a standard depth for corner pantry shelves. Yes you could ask him to cut them back unfortunately its a time consuming job which he might charge you for. I've since seen some that are 300mm and everything looks so much more accessible but I don't know if that's getting too narrow. It's not something I thought of discussing with him at the time. Our old kitchen had a blind corner pantry which I hated. The shelves facing you as you opened the door were very narrow (less than 300mm) and I loved them but the other bit, back in the corner, were very deep and I hated those and everything got lost there. I suppose I'll have to give it a bit more thought. Yes, I would expect he would charge for the alteration. Thanks again Re: Corner Pantry Shelf Depth 4Jul 11, 2016 11:25 am If I were you I would consider keeping 2-3 430mm deep shelves at the bottom for your bigger items and have him cut 3 300mm deep shelves above.
