Given your background I'd like to hear why. My experience with vinyl wrap has been positive and I've never seen a house in Perth with issues with it but there seems to be a school of thought that it's doomed to fail over time. Googling this you get the feeling that it's a problem with older installations. Re: 2 Pack or Vinyl Wrap? 16Jun 22, 2016 9:11 am Hi Althom, I worked many years with a company than manufactured Vinyl wrap doors and to say they had a deserved bad reputation would be an understatement. Not only was the Vinyl in the Australian market poor quality, so was the adhesive and manufacturing process. The product has come a long way in the last ten years, so much so I have installed it in my own home recently in a pretty spectacular kitchen. We install a lot of kitchens each year, with a fair chunk being Vinyl Wrap, and can honestly say we very rarely have a call back for faulty product. For me, paint can be hit and miss with quality issues but I guess it's a personal choice. Looking to do a kitchen reno in our investment property and 2 Pack is nearly 3* the cost of vinyl wrap. I'll be using the same company that did the vinyl wrap cupboards in our kitchen back in 2005 and those cupboards are still in perfect condition so not expecting any issues.
Re: 2 Pack or Vinyl Wrap? 18Jun 23, 2016 6:32 am But can you repair vinyl wrap? No. What about in a few years time and a kid damages a door, you have to buy a new door, they may not even make that colour vinyl anymore. With polyurethane it can be repaired and resprayed at anytime by any painter! Hi CEK, I guess it's all down to personal opinion, but to answer your question - I do both vinyl and painted kitchens, it's purely what the client is wanting. If I am asked which way to go, then I will almost always steer clients down the vinyl path. If a kid damages a door, in vinyl wrap it's about $40 to order a new door (sometime a little more if its a bigger door). This is far more efficient than the cost of a painter repairing the damage, sanding the door, mixing the paint and spraying? Most cabbies would have a minimum charge much higher than the cost of a vinyl door. Again, it's just personal opinion. I understand that those who have come through the industry and have been taught that paint is the best will be pro paint, and similar with those with vinyl wrap. I have been involved in both and personally like vinyl wrap.
