If the panel is 2400mm or less then it doesn't make any difference to have it either direction, it only comes down to personal preference. If the panel is over 2400mm then vertical grain is far better as it joins up without standing out. I've seen photos of a few kitchens where it doesn't align and it looks pretty bad If you join sheets end on its almost impossible to get the grain to line up. I just wouldn't do it! If your bar panel is longer than the max length of the material available then the grain should go vertically. I just received my kitchen plans and the front island is 3 metres. They have it in 3 panels so it appears the grain is vertical. Should I go 2 panels with horizontal grain? This is the colour. It looks like sheen only comes in 2400 x 1200 lengths. https://www.polytec.com.au/colour/rocco ... lini-sheen I'm just a single clueless guy so i appreciate your opinion on what will look best. Whatever the grain direction on the front island, I will do the same to my top cupboards. Thanks for any advice. It doesn't work well at all the other way!! Yours is fine!
