The Kimberley bins use this mechanism, soft closing ball race runners. They are also used by Hettich. How do these actually work compared to the Blum soft close?
thanks
http://www.kimprod.com.au/KRB30.htm bin uses a runner like these http://www.ecvv.com/product/3173727.html
It is a runner that has been around for 20 years and in my opinion very average in feel and operation. It is supported on small bearings on the top and bottom of the narrow profile. It is mounted to the side of the bin/drawer. Worth no more than about $5 per set.
Blum Antaro runners - http://www.leevalley.com/US/wood/page.a ... 43616&ap=1 are a much stronger runner concealed on the inside of a metal walled drawer side. These cost around $40 per set plus the cost of the metal walled drawer side.
Be aware that Hettich sell runners with similar quality to the blum Antaro runners but that's not whats fitted to the side of the bin in your picture.
