Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Mar 02, 2016 8:04 am Our undermount sink has recently come off and needs to be remounted. When I got home last night and my wife showed me, it was being held up by the pipes only. I have jammed a piece of wood in there for now which is supporting it. It looks to me like the builder used silicon to glue it to the Caesarstone benchtop and nothing else. I'm not sure if this is how its meant to be done, but I have seen a few people mention that a special kind of glue needs to be used to mount the sink rather than silicon? No brackets were used either, not sure if they are needed if a suitable glue is used. Anyways, I need to remount it. What glue do I need to use to sick the sink back under the benchtop? Re: Undermount sink came off, need to re mount. 2Mar 03, 2016 6:03 am So 99 times out of 100 its a stone mason that mounts your bowl to the stone. Good companies will use 3 different mothods all at the same time. 1. Silicon between the lip and underside of the stone 2. Metal brackets to hold the lip 3. Megapoxy on the underside where it is not seen. You will need to pull the sink completely out and clean all the old silicon off the underside of the stone and also the sink. Then use silicon, lots of it to glue it back on. You probably wont be able to get Megapoxy or the brackets easily but ring around and see what you can find. Stone mason just did the bench top. Cost saving i guess.... I have the sink mounts, they are in an sealed pack in the cupboard under the sink. I have spoken to my next door neighbor whos father is a builder. Getting him to come and look at it today as I can see a way to make and attach some sort of support once the sink is on. Alternatively, I'll go ask at the kitchen/joinery place in town about getting them to attach the brackets that came with the sink. This will involve drilling into the stone, which I'm not even going to attempt. We always contract out to them. Try and get in contact with a local stone mason. Seeing as though this is the second attempt you should do it properly!
