One salesperson at an outlet of our tile supplier has said one number but our colour consultant has said another. Re: Height of Splashback Behind Gas Hob QLD 3Jan 30, 2016 7:28 am We have electric - but - our splash covers all of the area below the cupboards above. Looks awesome and a little extra costs very little. Re: Height of Splashback Behind Gas Hob QLD 4Jan 30, 2016 7:58 pm JB1 600mm, but that's a little low for my liking (the Rangehood). For gas cooktops the rangehood should actually be minimum of 650mm, measured from the top of the burner trivets. But don't think that was quite the question. For splash backs, you don't actually need one if that floats your boat. But what you do need is for gas is fire resistant material for all surfaces within 200mm of the cooktop, think that applies vertically as well as horizontally. Fire resistant material could be fire resistant board or tiles (min of 5mm thick) over standard ghyproc. If you have a glass splash back then it isn't considered fire resistant, in that case you need your fire resistant board and then the glass splash back must be tempered. Though to your question if you have a range hood, why wouldn't you put the splash back up to the range hood? Or are you not having one? Re: Height of Splashback Behind Gas Hob QLD 5Feb 01, 2016 7:36 am You really need to check the specs of your rangehood as well. Some specify a minimum height above the cooktop which is more than the regs require!
