This may be a dumb question, and/or just a personal choice but I'm trying to decide if I put coloured backspash all around the kitchen, or just near the cooktop area.
We have a galley(ish) style kitchen where on one side we have the ovens and cooktop, the other side we have the working area, sink and a massive window above. Currently all around the kitchen we have white tiles. As of Wednesday we will have a new kitchen, the style is white on white so I we need to add some colour, red was the only colour me & my wife could compromise on for a splashback. The rest of the room is mainly white and black.
I will put the splashback above the cooktop, and area about 70cm x 150cm, but I am unsure if I should leave the white tiles on the opposite side above the sink, or if I should run the splashback all the way around the entire kitchen. Currently there is a row of white tiles two tiles high. My fear is if I replace this with all red splashback then it's a lot of red and may take away from the 'touch of colour' and become overwhelming.... but, if I leave it as tiles on one side then will it look odd?
One more, if we leave it as tiles, do you think grey grout would look decent or horrid - we will be having white benchtops with grey flecks, and dark matte grey large handles on the cabinets.
