Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Dec 04, 2015 12:05 am Got any ideas to improve this look? Not what I expected! I was thinking maybe I could paint the infill 'strips' in a white to match the cupboards. What would you do? (I think the pantry looks fine ... It's got white walls) http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/b572/MandyBarlow/Avalon/Now%20building/991397BC-D48B-46D5-BEAB-2E0A026B0638_zpseop31dz6.jpg http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/b572/MandyBarlow/Avalon/Now%20building/28D9DA90-5C15-49D7-8244-C474EC4CCABF_zpsugpjoj25.jpg Re: Ugly o/head cupboard in fills - what would you do? 3Dec 04, 2015 8:43 am Yes, I'd paint the infill in a white that matches the doors, but also consider running a thin white moulding from floor to bulkhead each side of the cupboards, to make a neat end to the kitchen and splashback. It's a bit tricky how the upper cupboards are narrower though, so the moulding would have to widen up to infill that area. Re: Ugly o/head cupboard in fills - what would you do? 5Dec 04, 2015 5:20 pm OJ ... Moulding = genius! I don't like the way the tiles don't line up either, so that will neaten that off. Thanks peeps. LOL Ponzu Hope your place was finished better Re: Ugly o/head cupboard in fills - what would you do? 6Dec 04, 2015 7:12 pm I have taller cupboards so the bulkhead is much narrower. If you raise your ceilings you need to account for that. Creator of superduperonium, expert at expert things, nobel laureate, can hold my breath for 10 minutes. Re: Ugly o/head cupboard in fills - what would you do? 7Dec 04, 2015 7:45 pm Yes it seems you do. Sadly this was something I wasnt aware of - don't have the experience the builder does. And the show home looked good. Whereas this looks bad. And my high ceilings and double waterfalls didnt come cheap. Its great that you knew about it and yours look nice Re: Ugly o/head cupboard in fills - what would you do? 8Dec 04, 2015 10:03 pm I think you can buy panels/mouldings and fit that on top of the cupboard. You can use the same on both sides of your cupboard or use a different moulding... If you prefer you can paint over or get a closer similar to your cupboard viewtopic.php?t=79845 Re: Ugly o/head cupboard in fills - what would you do? 9Dec 11, 2015 9:45 pm I'm sorry but I don't think that the colour choice of the tiles is right. Two completely different whites. A backsplash in glass in the colour of the walls would have been much more suitable. I do. I'm okay with it. I think it will look better when my pendants and other fittings etc are added Thanks for all the comments peeps Re: Ugly o/head cupboard in fills - what would you do? 11Jan 04, 2016 4:21 pm Bulk heads are usually just plaster on a frame, so it is pretty shocking finishing them like that. Raised ceilings or not. It will make me think twice about building with Simmonds. at most it will have a short lintel which could be moved up just below the ceiling or even above. Above means you need to patch the cornice and might need to deal with… 2 61456 I'll look into different shower heads and ask the plumber about some engineering and see what he says. Thanks 2 9670 If you can calculate the reasonable charged head from let's say 100mm below the gutter to the top of where the vertical riser's horizontal discharge pipe will be, that… 11 17593 |
