Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Nov 24, 2015 8:20 am Due to budget constraints, we can't replace the whole kitchen yet. Planning on just replacing the stove and oven. However, the old stove and oven are 600 mm ones and are side by side and on top of the kitchen counter assembly( dips about 500 mm from bench top, pretty unusual). We will be replacing them with a free standing 900 mm stove/oven. Questions are: Do i need to have a plumber and electrician to disconnect and remove the old stove and oven or can i just do it myself? . As long as you turn the power supply off and disconnect the wiring and use plastic connectors for each cable to terminate them then wrap them with some electrical tape you should be fine. With the gas there should be a gas on-off valve below the stove. Just turn that off and disconnect the stove. When you install the new one however all the reconnecting should be done by the sparky and or plumber.
