Any chance you could take a closer pic of the floor tile. I assume that's staying. Hard to see if it's beige or got apricot through it. Might be easier to suggest colours with a close up of it. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. We didnt resurface anything we ripped it out and put in a new one, with a splash of paint and some new applicances.
Those tiles look similar to ours, maybe ours have more orange through them, heres the colors we started with and ended up with. Heres how it started, mmmm love blue and green Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Mid way.. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And the finished product.. This creates a neutral base which would match with most colours, probably not white, or grey but anything else, I would do an earthy colour bench top (or leave the bench colour as is, ), if the bench top is fairly plain and you want a splash of colour, perhaps a feature colour on the splashback, tiles or glass, and then tie the new window furnishings into that? I actually don't mind the pinky/orange colour - well as it shows on my screen anyway which is a pale terracotta but I don't think the white spalsh back tiles work with the beige floor/walls/benchtop and the blue blinds and trims aren't right with it either? Looks like a very long kitchen, you will enjoy all that space to work in. Re: Advice on renovating this kitchen **UPDATED pics on pg 3** 11Jul 16, 2008 10:19 am I must contradict myself and say mikkyg's beige floor and white kitchen certainly looks good together, perhaps it is all or nothing with the white, ie white on the splashback tiles only doesn't work, its not enough to look like it belongs.
So, I am now saying either what I suggested in my first post or keep the floor and go all out with whiteish cupboards, tiles, walls. I do like mikkyg's kitchen but it may be too bland for your tastes if you want a bolder colour scheme. Re: Advice on renovating this kitchen **UPDATED pics on pg 3** 12Jul 16, 2008 10:38 am Hi Mikaela, Bit hard to work out a price without any sizes, but as a rule of thumb, about 2/3 the cost of replacing the top completely Best Price Wardrobes Sliding door robes | Walk in robes Deco panel | Mirror | Melamine 26 to 28 Cottage lane Hackham M: 0402 927 376 http://www.bestpricewardrobes.com.au Trade welcome Re: Advice on renovating this kitchen **UPDATED pics on pg 3** 15Jul 16, 2008 4:34 pm kitchens are not horridly expensive but make a MASSIVE difference, and as stated above the cabinets themselves are not expensive a standard 900 2 door cabinet is certainly less than $150 for most places.
Also that stove is in a horrid position. have a good thing and really question if its worth saving. Ohh and i did a beige kitchen with white splash bake tiles at my last place, wouldnt win any cutting edge design awards but i didnt have people throwing up in the sink. Would love to see some more photos in the same direction as the originals on the made over kitchen, looks quite a nicely fitted out setup. Re: Advice on renovating this kitchen **UPDATED pics on pg 3** 16Jul 16, 2008 11:16 pm Thanks everyone!
Unfortunately there is a budget of a couple of hundred dollars if I'm lucky, so no renovating or replacing of bench tops is going to happen just yet. So the odd bench shape stays for now! I've had a bit of a look around, and I think my plan is this: - Paint all vertical apricot (?) surfaces with White Knight laminate paint in a white colour (I know not the best solution, but it goes back to the budget!) = $67 - Replace 30 door handles from this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ To this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ $3ea from Ikea = $90 - Install a silver kicker - not sure about this now, might not go with the beige stuff left over - Replace main window blue vertical blinds with timber venetians, not sure what colour, I like chocolate browns though... = $? - Replace long blue vertical blinds with white roman blinds - again not sure about price, $140? So that would leave me with these tiles: (bad picture, sorry. they are lighter than this implies) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ A beige sort of bench-top (refer to handle pic), white tile splash back (which has a feint pink motif but these can be replaced in the next stage) and light creme-ish walls. I'm open to painting to tie in a colour scheme, it might be a bit all over the place otherwise... AND this blue roller door, no idea what I can do with this, nothing probably..? Besides replacing obviously.. any idea of costs for that? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Thanks again for all your input! Re: Advice on renovating this kitchen **UPDATED pics on pg 3** 18Jul 16, 2008 11:28 pm Yak_Chat Mikaela - Get into it - throw some paint onto the doors and see what you think next. Re the roller door - paint it white. With what sort of paint? Won't the paint clog in the seams? Also we won't be moving in for 6 weeks, so it'll be a long wait for "after" photos, sorry! haha Re: Advice on renovating this kitchen **UPDATED pics on pg 3** 20Jul 16, 2008 11:56 pm Yak_Chat OK - I'll get bagged for this one - A can of spray paint Light coats will do it.
