That's good to know. Thanks Helyn

That's good to know. Thanks Helyn Re: Refrigerators - Tell us what you have! 42May 25, 2009 7:47 pm Hi Purpleninja We also have a Westinghouse (Virtuoso) stainless steel fridge, upside down model which works for me as I don't use the freezer anywhere near as much as the fridge. We have had it for over 3 years and it has experienced 2 moves. Never had a problem. Now that I've said that probably jinxed myself. Re: Refrigerators - Tell us what you have! 43May 25, 2009 7:54 pm Thanks for the info photogirl - always good to hear real experience over time as opposed to one off reviews by organisations or professional reviewers. Hope you haven't jinxed yourself! Re: Refrigerators - Tell us what you have! 44May 25, 2009 9:15 pm We got a F&P back on 2001 (stainless steel, bottom mount freezer) which recently died on us in a big way - decided to be an oven every now and then which was so fantastic so never getting a F&P ever again. We also have a LG in the garage which we have had for 12 years and it's still working like a charm, so we got a LG side by side with ice dispenser to replace the F&P - of course that doesn't fit in the new house Re: Refrigerators - Tell us what you have! 45May 25, 2009 10:59 pm Oh dear, this thread has started to worry me about my fridge space again... It seems like everyone buys side by side fridges now and in a few years no one would one the normal freezer at bottom (or at top) one door fridges... We are going to buy one of these as it's only my hubby and I and we don't need the big ones with the double doors but... our fridge space is going to be only 900mm (too late to change it now I am sure) so a double door fridge won't ever fit... would this be a problem for re-sale in many years time? would people not buy our house because their nice big fridge doesn't fit? Building a Wisdom Prosperity 23 - http://erwisdomprosperity.blogspot.com/ Re: Refrigerators - Tell us what you have! 46May 25, 2009 11:20 pm In many years time the buyer could always remodel the kitchen to update it so I doubt whether the fridge space would put them off. Also side by side fridges are not the majority type sold so I doubt it would be a deal breaker. Re: Refrigerators - Tell us what you have! 47May 25, 2009 11:29 pm Thanks purpleninja, you've put my mind at ease, I can go to sleep now! I know it sounds silly stressing about all these little things but I guess while I wait for a site start date I got nothing better to do than double guess all our choices! However, as purple ninja says, if you sell your house many years down the track, who knows what buyers will want to do by then Re: Refrigerators - Tell us what you have! 50May 26, 2009 10:14 am purpleninja Second, third and multiple guessing our decisions is all part of the building experience Thanks purpleninja, nice to know that it's not just me! I wish someone would have told me this ages ago Oh, thanks Helyn, I guess I now now that a smaller model would be ok and yeah, I better stop stressing about everything and specially for when we sell the house, things would have changed by then anyway! Thanks guys! I've had it for about 8 years or so and it's great. Mine is a smallish one though, so I'm thinking of getting a big side by side one or individual upright fridge and a freezer for in the garage or laundry (more freezer space and more alcohol space required ) 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' Of course, the other option is to sell and buy a new one but we can't find one that we are happy with. It wasn't a deal breaker but it's a major headache! Re: Refrigerators - Tell us what you have! 54May 26, 2009 7:38 pm When we were looking, there were definetly some that were only 850 wide - perhaps they have been phased out now Just plain side by side models, no plumbing for iced water. Re: Refrigerators - Tell us what you have! 55May 26, 2009 8:02 pm the iced water is the reason we got the side by side And the only model these days that does a one door with iced water is F&P - not going there again! There was an LG that had iced water with one door but I can't find them anywhere now. Jochicho, not everyone will have a side by side fridge. I'd never buy one. I can't fit big dishes or platters in them. I'd only ever have a French Door or Top fridge mount because I need the full width for the fridge. I'm looking at an F&P french door or top mount, or a Samsung top mount. We want a water dispenser, but still the full fridge width. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Re: Refrigerators - Tell us what you have! 60May 26, 2009 10:47 pm I just ordered my new fridge today. My last 2 fridges were side by side and I was sick of not having enough space in them (especially the freezers). This time I have gone for an LG top mount with a water dispenser (doesn't have to be plumbed in). It was the largest fridge I could find (564 litre) without going to another side by side or french door. The upside down fridges use more power and were smaller than what I got. The model is GR559FTD (titanium finish) for anybody interested. Thanks mate. Yeah good points!
