Like the engineered stone, pricing varies depending on finish with the marble effect at the top end. From memory on the pricing it is around or more expensive than engineered stone, and you probably have to pay more to have it installed as it more of an unfamiliar product (at least in Australia, Europe have been using it for years) than engineered stone. Re: Thin Porcelain Benchtops 4Sep 21, 2015 7:45 pm I had a look at this stuff at CDK stone in Sydney, fell in love with it immediately, just looks a wee bit different, with some really interesting patters. I think the prices were similar to higher end engineered stone, but for this looked much more unique. CDK gave me a list of installers in Sydney, they were very helpful. I did watch one video that showed it cracking when knocked near the edge, more so than other surfaces. But the manufacturer blamed the testers setup (not installed to their guidelines). Re: Thin Porcelain Benchtops 5Sep 22, 2015 6:05 am Have you asked how the edges would be finished?? With engineered stone the edges is mitre to give a seemless 40mm thick finish. I am not sure if this could be done with the product your talking about. I also believe it could be quite weak on the edges! Dekton benchtop test. I still wanted it though. There are some comments that the manufacturer said the above linked test wasn't using a properly installed benchtop. Thin Porcelain Benchtops 7Sep 24, 2015 5:06 am We looked into Neolith and x lite for our splashback. In the end the budget just didn't stretch (it's a 4m length) or we just weren't quite motivated enough to arrange the separate installer. I think what I was told is installation is roughly double the sq/m price. I was also told it was strong once affixed though I too would be a little concerned about the edges. It is basically impermeable to stains. My thought on it is that the digital prints look absolutely amazing from a distance but not as good close up. With a bench you would be working on it close up and would that annoy you as the print is very obviously digital from that distance. I sort of thought it might annoy me when I was cooking even lol.. I just wasn't 100% sold on it. I'd love it in a colour with less of a print though.. We were looking at the marble look one. Make sure you view in a large sheet. Be interested to hear what you decide, I agree it's a great product. Re: Thin Porcelain Benchtops 8Sep 24, 2015 7:06 am eeney This was the report I saw, similar kind of benchtop. Dekton benchtop test. I still wanted it though. There are some comments that the manufacturer said the above linked test wasn't using a properly installed benchtop. All bench tops were tested in exactly the same conditions. I would be wary!
