Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Aug 28, 2015 1:58 am I'm really keen to hear from anyone who has a big kitchen sink where they drain their washed dishes in the sink as it's so large. My architect wanted me to have one to ensure there is no clutter of dishes on a draining board. I love aesthetics but I have three small kids so I wondered if it was practical enough? The benchtops will be marble so I don't want to drain my dishes on the benchtop. Thank you! Renovating and creating a small extension to a 1930s Spanish Mission with the help of an architect. They are massive but they are big enough for a wok to fit in and not be seen etc. We bought a kit that was available with a colander, cutting board and a drainer they all sit over the sink when in use or in a cupboard when not used. I find them great we have a family of 4 and although most stuff goes in dishwasher nightly we have no problems with 1-2 days of dishes going in the sink they are deep enough to keep bench uncluttered. I wouldn't hesitate in getting an over sized sink again. Like I said we have two though so can wash and rinse etc I don't think I'd be keen on just a double as we usually wash in one and have the drainer over the other Re: How have you found your super big sink? 4Sep 02, 2015 10:54 am I have a huge double sink at my family home. We have got a special basket that was placed in one of the sinks to drain the dishes. It’s very useful because water doesn’t collect underneath the basket as it drips away straight into the sink drain. I love our huge double sink very much.
