Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Aug 22, 2015 4:12 pm Hi, I query if anybody knows the cost of a standard essastone 20mm sheet (3070mm x 1410mm). Our builder has quoted us for stone in the kitchen, and based on my calculations, the builder needs to purchase 2 x sheets, both with one cut out each (one for sink, one for cooktop). The cost of the stone is in for $4,700. Just need a sense check to see if this is reasonable. Thanks Re: Cost of Essastone Sheet in Kitchen: new build 2Aug 22, 2015 11:40 pm Hi miss Chloe. It's not simply a matter of the cost of the materials. It has to be cut, polished and depending on the edge treatment may have to be doubled up or mitred. Then it all has to be installed. In many manufacturing jobs labor is a good portion of the cost, so material cost is almost irrelevant. In your case the builder isn't buying the sheets himself, he will contract it out like all the aspects of the build so your also paying a builders margin on top of the actual price. Without knowing the dimensions and details of your kitchen the price sounds around the right price for a typical kitchen.
