Re: How much was your kitchen? 2Jul 31, 2015 7:40 am There are a few things that could really inflate that price. 1. Stone colour, there can be a huge difference in price depending on the colour you choose. 2. Type of door? Plain panel v a routered panel design. Again big difference in price. 3. Brand and type of hardware. If you choose the expensive options above then you could add well over $10,000 to your kitchen. Kitchen price comes down to the specifics! Bosch appliances, 40mm Quartz bench (half the price literally of caeasarstone calacuttoa novo), no waterfall ends, glass splash back, polytec cupboards/drawers, plain square edge, Blum soft close hardware. It was actually a pretty basic kitchen to upgrade for sale in 12 months. Yes such a good point, I knew that as I type it was being lazy 1) Fresh concrete 2) routed 3) Blum.. blum.. something.. soft close etc. The metal sided type. Re: How much was your kitchen? 5Jul 31, 2015 3:24 pm 32k does not sound that bad. My price included the premium range of granite And soft close blum in the price. I upgraded to a super premium range 60mm. Waterfall ends And the stone alone was 16k. Then 1.7k to switch to franke sink And grohe mixer. Additional draws, handles And bins about 1.5k. Then add two pak finish is 8k (but that includes bathroom cabinets too) lastly there is the splashback And returns around the windows which is less than a sq meter And that's 1.9k
Appliances can add a lot as well, we went for Next and that rounded out at 17k with a quasair under mount extraction hood. The dimensions of the kitchen is similar to yours. Money spends very easy when ticking boxes. Re: How much was your kitchen? 6Jul 31, 2015 4:37 pm Tips to cut Kitchen costs 1. Planning is everything Planning is the most important and time taking factor. Invest more time for planning and get to know the best that you need keeping an eye on the price as well. 2. Go for alternatives Try for good less expensive alternatives. Good ones last long and looks good to. Go for top branded alternatives so that you can save much on buying cheap ones which eventually might need to be replaced costing you more. 3. DIY over replacement Kitchen appliance parts that need replacement should be done timely rather than to wait for the whole to be replaced. If replacement needed go for energy saving ones. Switch to eco-friendly ones. 4. Walls Planning goes a long way for kitchen remodelling.Custom built in wall units can considerably reduce costs. 5. Flooring Changing the wall might be expensive but if you still need to replace them go for less expensive one like alternatives for wooden flooring. If not go for the walls. The best alternative is to keep it simple! Re: How much was your kitchen? 7Jul 31, 2015 5:37 pm AussieMark 32k does not sound that bad. Just checked we're 4.2 x 5.8 Re: How much was your kitchen? 8Aug 02, 2015 9:24 pm $32k is a good price, that's what I'm budgeting for the joinery and stone, the sink, tapwear, and electrical appliances are extra. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75739&p=1299716#p1299716 Re: How much was your kitchen? 9Aug 03, 2015 1:47 am Building4my3tots $32k is a good price, that's what I'm budgeting for the joinery and stone, the sink, tapwear, and electrical appliances are extra. Yes that doesn't include my appliances. There's $750 for an Abbey sink and mixer if I choose that but I'm not sure what to choose yet. Their original quote was around 36,500. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75739&p=1299716#p1299716 Re: How much was your kitchen? 10Aug 03, 2015 4:54 pm Leksie5000 Building4my3tots $32k is a good price, that's what I'm budgeting for the joinery and stone, the sink, tapwear, and electrical appliances are extra. Island is 4 x 1(2 different heights 40mm stone with undermount sink. All handleless and mostly draw units. You're in Newcastle, and I can tell you there are plenty of ways of getting what you want if your builder lets you source it. Yeah, we are able to do whatever we wanted with whoever with the kitchen. It's contracted separately. I guess we do have a 4.8 metre wall with pot drawers mostly under, and another of about 3 metres, plus all 2PAC, island bench is 1.2x 3 in 60mm Stone, stone splashback etc. so I think they came in ok, well they did compared to our other quotes.. There was another cheaper but we weren't sure how the quality will be. I know you've been smart with your choices tho I'm sure it will look good. Re: How much was your kitchen? 14Sep 09, 2015 9:24 pm Im just going to put this out there, I cant believe how much money people have for this sort of thing. ~8 grand. There is huge difference in quality between low end kitchens and mid - high end kitchens. There is an old saying, pay peanuts get monkeys! Hopefully you found someone that under quoted! 8K really doesn't get much if you want good quality! What can look like a good cabinet can have so many short cuts and cheap alternatives its not funny! An average sized good quality kitchen should cost $18,000 to 30,000 for cabinets and bench tops installed. Plumbing, Electrical and appliances would be on top of that. Ours in the end is 31 and yea the others are extra. We are building a custom home with a separate contract for the kitchen. The builder will do plumbing electrical etc but joinery and stone is up to us to choose and contract. Of course it's hard to compare without exactly listing it all but I think that is reasonable for the quality and size of the kitchen. All cabinets custom made on site in their factory from low E board. Kitchen is fairly big though our house is not huge. The price I think was on par with the market, we had cheaper quotes sure and more expensive. Bang in the middle. I'd budgeted up to 35,000. They are also doing our bathroom vanities and laundry. I'm most excited about the kitchen in the new house! Re: How much was your kitchen? 17Sep 10, 2015 7:45 pm yeh this would be mid low end, but looks a million dollars. DIY job, only tradesman in was the gas plumber, and that was only 120 bucks. WIN If you paid someone, 8K would get you a small bunnings kitchen! haha Re: How much was your kitchen? 18Sep 17, 2015 12:34 am Thanks for asking Leksie, we are basically at step 1 of our KDR, figuring out how much we can afford, and the kind of information provided in this thread is really super helpful. Thanks as well to all the contributors so far - and thanks in advance to the future contributors! A mate of mine recently re-did his whole kitchen plus a bit extra to make an open plan kitchen/living area (flooring, knock out a wall etc), when asked what his budget was he replied 80k, the kitchen guy said "I was hoping you'd say 120." GULP!!! GULP!!! Ha ha.. Ouch! I guess that included structural work. Let them quote the scope of works THEN tell them what your budget is and if it fits! We drove our first quote down by about $3,00 which I think was reasonable. Of course they're in business so all you can do is ask them to trim a bit of the speculative fat that's on there.. Re: How much was your kitchen? 20Jan 15, 2016 9:09 pm Using this forum as a guide I've just completed a kitchen, with lots of research, and doing many jobs myself for $13,500 for absolutely everything excluding appliances.
