Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 May 10, 2015 10:00 pm Well, I've picked the gas cooker that I would like but it needs to be installed on a benchtop that has a granite transformation layer over the laminate benchtop (chosen by previous owner). The cut out on the old electric cooktop is quite small 550w 460d and most gas cookers have a cutout depth that is 20-30mm larger. The width seems fine. Can we trim the cut out to accommodate the larger cooktop or would this completely stuff the bench? Could we tape it and get out the jigsaw or is this just a can of worms best kept shut and I should just deal with a crappy cooker for the time being. Thanks for any advice.... Re: Trimming a benchtop that has been granite transformed 2May 11, 2015 8:35 am What material is on the top?? Is it Granite, caesarstone or a soft material like corian?? I would be cutting the thickness off the stone with a diamond blade and angle grinder then cutting the timber part of the top with a jigsaw!
