Browse Forums Kitchen Corner 1 Jun 11, 2015 5:48 pm Hi everyone, Probably a rather simple plumbing question for somebody who knows what they are talking about! I have recently moved into a new apartment. I want to install a new IKEA sink in another room, yet there is no water supply or outlet pipes/drains in the room. I have a washing machine in the adjoining laundry room. Firstly, Is it possible to get some kind of splitter that can split the washing machine water supply (hot and cold) and then run pipes along the skirting boards in to the new sink? Any pump needed for this? Are you able to buy these kinds of splitters at average hardware stores? Secondly, the sink outlet/drain will need to then be piped from the new sink, across to the room with the washing machine. Is it possible to do this? Will it need a small pump or anything to push the water through? (as it might need to move vertically up to the existing drain point in the laundry. And finally, are there any legal issues with doing this? Hoping it is a rather simple job that I can do myself. Pipes won't be installed in the walls or anything, they will just run along the ground next to the skirting boards. Any advice much appreciated! I have seen so many massive insurance claims from water damage caused by washing machines and faulty flex lines. Not sure we could use it as a normal tap in the house ? Re: Can I use my washing machine water supply for a new sink 4Jun 12, 2015 9:31 am Saint Mike Tend to agree. I know you're in an apartment but our WM water comes from a tank. Not sure we could use it as a normal tap in the house ? Nothing wrong with drinking tank water, been doing it now for around 30 years and prefer it over 'swimming pool' water we get out of our mains supplied tap in the kitchen sink. Like CEK said to the OP, get a plumber involved as you can easily run the risk of a very went inside of the house if not done properly, and at least the plumber has insurance you can claim on if he doesn't do it right.
